We do not know what headache or heartache people are enduring, so in a world gone mad, let’s be kind to each other and also take care on the roads. May Stephen & Elizabeth rest in eternal peace.

Big Brekkie – Thank you to all who attended last Sunday’s Big Breakfast in Corduff Raferagh Community Centre. The breakfast was an ideal opportunity for many after blessing of the graves to sit back with family and friends and enjoy a good hearty breakfast. Events like these don’t just happen, a lot of background work goes into the planning and execution of a day like this, so a sincere thank you to our Community Centre Manager, Pauline Reilly for all her work preparing for this day. A lot of volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help out, so thank you to each and everyone who helped out, particularly to those who were busy cooking in the kitchen – Ann, Michael, Nigel & Reggie.
Greaghlatacapple Mass Rock – Last Friday evenings visit to Greaghlatacapple was a wonderful occasion. With perfect blue skies overhead and dry conditions under foot, this was one of our largest attendance at the Mass Rock. Fr. Pat McKeown, celebrated the Mass, in his own native townland, so it is always a special occasion for Fr. Pat and attendee. Mass was celebrated for the many sick of our community and also for a number of deceased, including Paddy Reilly, Faraghy & Margaret Traynor Drumgurra, both of whom attended the Mass Rock over the years; Philomena Malone who attended last year’s Mass; and also former heritage group member Iain Rampling. Thanks to Terence Keelan for admission to his property, Terence is very happy to have the Mass celebrated on his land, the land of his ancestors. Many people contributed to the preparation for the Mass, took part in the Mass and helped out after the Mass, so sincere thank you to each and every one for their input. Thanks to Pauline & Geraldine who had the refreshments ready on our return to the Centre. It was a beautiful evening in every way.

Headstone Inscriptions – The inscriptions from the headstones in St. Michael’s, St. John’s, St. Patrick’s and Carrickmaclim graveyards have been added to the Corduff Raferagh Website corduffraferagh.ie recently. We encourage families to view the information and forward any additions or anomalies to the email address below. Sadly during Storm Éowyn, the map at St. Michael’s was destroyed, it will be replaced, but we wanted to wait until such time as families had an opportunity to review the information which is now online before reprinting. The next step in our process is to publish a book with the inscriptions and all other information gathered over the past number of years. If you have any information you would like included in this publication, please email the details to corduffraferaghheritage@gmail.com or phone Bernie on 087 9555762.
