Jubilee Year of Hope 2025. Pope Francis has declared 2025 to be a Holy or Jubilee Year. A Jubilee Year is one set aside by the Church as a time of special grace, to encourage us all to embark on pilgrimages, to repent for our sins, to forgive and be reconciled with one another and to renew the spiritual life. The theme for the Holy Year is “Pilgrims of Hope,” thus bringing to the fore the journey of life that we are all on and our need to be people of hope, a hope rooted in the person of Jesus Christ. Pope Francis opened the Holy Door at St Peter’s in Rome on Christmas Eve, marking the opening of the Jubilee Year. Some online resources for the Jubilee Year are now available on www.clogherdiocese.ie/jubilee2025
Condolences – Our community was deeply saddened on Tuesday morning to learn of the passing of Mairead McConnon’s dear sister Bernice Doughty. Many of us met Bernice in the Mountain Dew over the years when she assisted behind the bar. Bernice was a quiet, friendly and courteous lady. We extends sincere sympathies to our colleague, manager, friend and neighbour Mariead and Michéal and the extended Martin and Doughty families. May Bernice rest in eternal peace.
