Blessing of the Graves – It’s a few weeks now since the blessing of the graves ceremonies at St. John’s & St. Michael’s.  With all the wind a lot of pots have fallen over, and are drying out, also flower arrangements are decaying.  Maybe it’s time to visit your family plot and remove these items before they start blowing around graveyards and making a mess.  Bring a bag or container with you to remove the debris and please dispose of them properly in your own bin at home.

Message in a Bottle is a simple idea that encourages people to keep their basic medical details in a common place, where, in cases of emergency, the Emergency teams can easily access them. The information required is very basic but necessary.  A plastic bottle is provided on request by the local Lions Clubs (our local contact is Paddy Gollogly 086 0439084).  A form is completed with medical details, including current medications etc, it is placed in the bottle for you to place in your fridge.  Three stickers are provided to stick on your front door, back door and fridge door, so in case of emergency, service providers know where to find all your necessary medical details.  This is a wonderful initiative led by Lions Clubs throughout Ireland, which the local LC is promoting and facilitating in this area and across Co. Monaghan.  If you would like to receive a bottle for a relative, neighbour or friend please contact Paddy Gollogly on 086 0439084.
