Trad Session last Friday week ago in the Mountain Dew was an incredible session comprising of 25 musicians who travelled from far and wide.  The session took place after Margaret Finnegan’s anniversary Mass in St. Joseph’s, a lovely tribute to a lady who is missed not only by her family but also by her Comhaltas family and friends.  Patsy and later, ‘wee’ Sinead stole the show with some beautiful songs.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable session for all those in attendance.

Carrickmacross Lions Club Fundraising Disco took place last Saturday night in the Community Centre.  Although the attendance was smaller than hoped, all present boogeyed the night way to DJ Paul Marron.  Ironically as Oasis played in Croke Park, the Oasis days or nights were recreated in the centre, mind you the crowd was a bit smaller!  Mobile phones featured this time to capture the vibes of the night, something that was not in existence in the Oasis days and maybe just as well!

Message in a Bottle is a simple idea that encourages people to keep their basic medical details in a common place, where, in cases of emergency, the Emergency teams can easily access them. The information required is very basic but necessary.  A plastic bottle is provided on request by the local Lions Clubs (our local contact is Paddy Gollogly 086 0439084).  A form is completed with medical details, including current medications etc, it is placed in the bottle for you to place in your fridge.  Three stickers are provided to stick on your front door, back door and fridge door, so in case of emergency, service providers know where to find all your necessary medical details.  This is a wonderful initiative led by Lions Clubs throughout Ireland, which the local LC is promoting and facilitating in this area and across Co. Monaghan.  If you would like to receive a bottle for a relative, neighbour or friend please contact Paddy Gollogly on 086 0439084.
