Go Raibh Maith Agat – It’s been an extremely busy week in the Community Centre and Mountain Dew with the Fíor Céilí last weekend, Active Retirement event on Tuesday, Boots and Bling appreciation event Saturday night and the ongoing bar refurbishments. Pauline, Mairead and their teams have been exceptionally busy – cooking, serving, cleaning, preparing all the while holding down the fort for the normal day to day activities. Thanks to their teams and the volunteers who chipped in. So much work goes on in the background preparing for these events and returning the building to the pristine condition we have become accustomed to, so thank you to all for your dedication.
Wrong Side of the Street, a newly published book by Pat Byrne, chronicles ground rents in Carrickmacross and beyond. It is a fascinating read, especially to those interested in local history and also gives insight into an archaic system which still affects many property owners in towns across Ireland. The book is available to purchase in Birdy’s, Keegan’s and SuperValu Carrickmacross.
The Annual Service of Remembrance Ceremony. We would like to invite you and family members to join in the annual Service of Remembrance Ceremony, when we as a Faith Community can come together to remember your loved one, who died during the year. This Service will take place on Sunday 23rd November 2025 in St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross at 4.00pm. A candle will be lit in memory of your deceased family member, and this will be available for collection following the Service. You may wish to light this candle in your home on special family occasions, remembering your deceased. A Candle and Bouquet of Flowers will be brought forward representing all our Deceased in our Parish and beyond. “To those who believe in thee, O Lord, Life is changed, not taken away.”
