Despite a cold night, with difficult driving conditions, the crowds turned out in force from near and far to support the annual Corduff Raferagh Parish Bazaar on Friday night last. Even before the 8.30 pm kick off time the hall in the Community Centre was buzzing. The Parish Committee put in a serious effort in preparing the stage with all the donations and gifts received from parishioners, sponsors and business. For the past few weeks, the committee with the help of the Townland Collectors, gathered an amazing amount of donations, both cash and gifts. On the night, the team kept the wheel spinning at a pace, the ticket sellers were literally run off their feet, such was the demand. The prizes were great, lots of oil vouchers (appropriate for the cold night that it was), €100 cash prizes, wonderful vouchers from a myriad of businesses, beautiful hampers etc., something really for every age group. Some were lucky, indeed some were very lucky, others left empty handed, but such is the luck of the game, but everyone enjoyed the craic, the anticipation and the crisps!
Between cash donations before the event and the proceeds of the night, a whopping total of €12,678.05 was raised for the upkeep of St. Michael’s & St. John’s, a fantastic achievement.
Congratulations to the Parish Committee who organised a really great community event and on the night executed the proceedings flawlessly. They were ably assisted by a large team of enthusiastic ticket sellers on the night.
Thanks to Community Centre staff who prepared the hall and had it comfortable for the night that it was.
The Parish Committee would like to Thank sincerely all members of the community and the surrounding areas who helped with this year’s Bazaar, and to everyone who donated towards the event and attended on the night. Without donations the event could not proceed or would not have been the success that it was.
Many businesses donated vouchers or gifts and the Committee ask that you support our Sponsors when Christmas gift shopping
