Big Breakfast Success

Share it

Corduff Raferagh Community Centre hosted a Big Breakfast on Sunday last to help defray the day to day running costs of the building.  We all know how much extra it costs to run our homes, the Centre is just the same, only on a larger scale, so the support received on Sunday was very welcome by the Community Association.

Early birds arrived from 9.30 am to avail of pre match sustenance, but the hall was packed to capacity after Blessing of the Graves, creating a great atmosphere as families had a wonderful opportunity to catch up without the hassle of cooking (and washing up!).

Pauline assembled a super team of volunteers, CE workers and committee members who were kept on their toes to ensure everyone was fed and watered.  The cooks – Ann Hand, Geraldine Sullivan & PJ Lambe were on the ball from 8.00 am getting the kitchen fired up and ready for action, many waiting staff queued up to deliver plates to the tables, along with ushers, collectors, pots and pots of tea brewed and delivered, a toast and brown bread station on full alert for the duration, washer uppers and many more.

Saturday was also a busy day for setting up the hall for the occasion.  These events don’t just happen, a lot of prep work goes into pulling all elements of a day like this together, so bualadh bas to Pauline who worked very hard on this event.

A special thanks goes out to the sponsors who provided food for the day – Cathal Connolly, David Miller & Shane McCabe, Felix Brennan, Lidl Carrickmacross & McCarron Meats.  The bakers Teresa Daly & Sinead Finnegan and marmalade from Anna Ward.  And those who made financial donations.

And where would we be without you, our community, for turning out in force, thanks to each and everyone who came along and enjoyed their breakfast while supporting your community centre.
