AR Plaque     AR Booklet

Corduff Raferagh Active Retirement Group celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the foundation of their group in the Community Centre last week.  A commemorative pamphlet was produced for the occasion naming group and committee members, activities undertaken, awards won and group photographs.  The group invited a number of northern AR groups with whom they engaged in exchanges over the years.  In total 160 people were fed, watered and entertained for the afternoon.  The speeches by committee members – Mary Keenan, Helen Duffy, Maura Garvey and Active Retirement Ireland national and regional representatives, were short, sweet and straight to the point.  Past members were remembered for their friendship and dedication to the group.  Presentations were made and a display of crafts, lace and paintings showed some of the many activities the group participated in over the years.  Ann Doyle of Sreenty School unveiled a beautiful commemorative plaque made by her husband John from a tree which fell in their garden some years ago, both were former officers on the committee.  Pauline and her team of Super Troupers – staff and volunteers, had the hall decorated for the occasion, prepared and served the lunch, and followed up with tea and treats before they guests returned home.  Many of the AR members supplied beautiful home baked treats for the occasion. There was a fabulous atmosphere in the hall as everyone enjoyed the live music and dancing.  The children of Brightsparks Play School created a beautiful poster for the occasion which was mounted on the back wall.  Many compliments were express on the facilities, food and entertainment by the visitors.  Congratulations to the group on reaching this significant milestone and on their organisation of this wonderful event.  The group always welcomes new members, so if you are free on a Tuesday morning at 10 am, the group meet every other week, they participate in activities in house and often take day trips away.
