Sun Smart – Thankfully the sun has finally arrived but advice shared by the National Cancer Registry of Ireland encourages all to “Know the UV index:  When the UV index is 3 or above you need to protect your skin.  In Ireland, the UV index is usually 3 or above from April to September, even when it is cloudy.  Stay safe by limiting time in the sun when UV is strongest, typically between the hours of 11 am – 3 pm.”

Monaghan Alerts – The new text Alerts system was launched back in April by Monaghan County Council, replacing the former Komeer system.  If you would like to get text alerts you can download the ‘Monaghan Alerts’ app onto your smartphone or you can fill out the short form which is available on the notice board in the Reception area of the Community Centre and post it to Monaghan County Council, full details are on the form.  The service is Free and you can select the area you wish to receive alerts for e.g. Corduff/Raferagh.  This is an important service to alert the community of emergencies, road closures, weather events and suspicious activity.  Last week the service sent out a text to “keep a lookout for cold callers calling to homes offering services. Please do not engage with them and report suspicious activity.”
