Altar Servers Recruitment: May I take this opportunity to say, ‘Thank you’ and ‘Well done’ to our teams of Servers and their parents, for enabling our liturgies to be enhanced with young people serving at the Altar over the past two years. Some of the senior Servers are retiring and we wish them well for the future when they may become part of the other ministries in our Church. We are now seeking new recruits from 5th and 6th class to come forward to join the teams we have in place. The priests have already spoken to the pupils in the schools and some children and parents have already signed up for this. If you wish to become an Altar Server, or if parents would like to find out more about this wonderful ministry, please speak to one of the priests or the office staff. All Church activities for children are under the direction and guidance of the Child Safeguarding Committee in the parish.

Defibrillator Fundraiser – On Sunday last Tess O’Connor handed over the proceeds of the Defib Fundraiser in Raferagh the previous week to Conor Comiskey, representing his son Luke who is looking after the purchasing and maintenance of our local Defibrillators. Luke is a member of the Shercock Cardiac First Responders group who are on call 24/7 to attend Cardiac emergencies in this area. The work the group undertakes is vital and of immense assistance to families in time of emergency. If you didn’t get a chance to donate yet, you’re not late, you can drop off your donation with Tess or Breda at Corcreagh NS, any surplus donations if there are any will go to the Shercock CFR group.

Monaghan Field Names Pilot project 2024 – The current pilot scheme will close on Oct 18th, leaving it tight for collecting field names and marking up the maps. To facilitate the collection of data we are inviting property owners to come to the Community Centre for two Mapping Days. We are using the old Ordnance Survey Maps which we have printed out and numbered each field, garden, haggard etc in each townland. So it is just a matter of connecting a field name to a field number. This information will be added to the Loganim.ie website. GDPR is very important with this project, so only our numbers and your field names are added to the system. Property owners are not added to the system. If you could spare a little time on Sunday 6th October from 2 pm – 5 pm, to help us out, or on Monday 7th October from 10 am – 4 pm, we would very much appreciate your assistance. For further details contact Bernie on 087 9555762 or Mary on 087 2251487.
