Blessing of the Graves takes place today July 7th at St. Joseph’s after 12 noon Mass.  July 14th at St. John’s after 11 am Mass.  July 21st at St. Michael’s after 11 am Mass.

 

St. Michael’s Graveyard – In preparation for the upcoming Blessing of the Graves the local committee are requesting the assistance of extra volunteers to spend an hour or two on Saturday, July 14th, helping them with clipping, strimming and weeding.  Come along at whatever time suits you.  Please don’t leave it to the ‘old reliables’ to do all the work, the local graveyards are the resting place of your family members, let’s maintain it in their memory.

 

Big Breakfast – Corduff Raferagh Community Association will host a Big Breakfast in the Community Centre on Sunday 21st July from 9 am – 1 pm.  All welcome.

 

Corduff and Raferagh Lourdes Fund would like to sincerely thank everyone who recently supported their Coffee Morning in the Mountain Dew. To all the bakers, those who gave prizes for the Raffle and those who gave donations and finally to everyone who came along on the morning to make it such a success. Total raised €948

 

Corduff Raferagh Lourdes Committee are running a bus to Our Lady’s Shrine in Knock on Wednesday 7th August. This is a special day at Knock as it is Clogher Diocesan Day.  You can book your seat by contacting Rose Hanratty at 0872298288 or Philomena Lundy at 0871307824.  A booking fee of €10 is required to book your place.

 

Irish Red Cross Community Support “Monaghan” are looking for volunteers to help in the community with social meet ups, we meet people on a 1:1 basis where we chat over a tea/coffee and offer support with a view to linking people to local groups in their community. If interested, you can contact one of our volunteers on 087 6152455. All training will be provided.

 

Irish Blood Transfusion Service – The IBTS are seeking an additional 2,000 blood donations over the next 4 weeks to help the national blood supply as some blood groups have fallen to under 3 days of stock. “The IBTS aims to have 7 days supply, but current levels including O negative and B negative are at just 2 days supply, and O positive which relates to nearly half the total population is at just over 3 days”, said Paul McKinney, Director of Donor Services and Logistics. Tractor & Vintage Car Run from Killanny Church carpark on Sunday 14th July at 3 pm.  This is a fundraiser for Monaghan Rose, Ann Marie McArdle and also for Down Syndrome Centre North East.

 

Our Community was deeply saddened on Thursday to hear of the passing of Gerry Callan, Drumgowna. Gerry was better known to the older members of our community as ‘the Milk man’.  To Rosie, Marie, P.J., Margaret, Martin, Geraldine, John, Thomas, Sarah and the extended Callan family, we extend sincere sympathies of the Corduff Raferagh Community to you all. May Gerry rest in peace.

 

Corduff Raferagh Heritage group sympathises with the Callan family, Drumgowna on Gerry’s passing on Wednesday. Gerry faithfully attended our annual Mass at the Mass Rock, with his wife Rose and also assisted the group in identifying unmarked plots in St. Michael’s graveyard. To Rosie, Marie, P.J., Margaret, Martin, Geraldine, John, Thomas, Sarah and the extended Callan family, we extend our sincerest sympathies. May Gerry rest in eternal peace.

 

Children’s Summer Faith CAMP for ages 7 – 13yrs in Bunscoil Lughaidh Naofa, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. Monday 29th July – Thursday 1st August 2024, 10am – 3pm each day. The activities at the camp will include art, drama, sport, music, action songs and prayer. €40 per child and €25 for each additional child in the family. Booking is essential as places are limited. Booking forms are available by emailing: carrickmacrossfaithcamp@gmail.com or hard copies are available in the Carrickmacross Parish Office, opening hours Mon – Fri 10am – 12.30pm. Temporary Closing of Roads

Monaghan County Council gives notice to close the following road in the Municipal District of Carrickmacross and Castleblaney in County Monaghan:

Date:    The road will be closed for a 4 week period between 08/07/2024 30/08/2024

To Facilitate:     Road Improvement Works

Road Closed:     LT 40311 Lisnafeddaly Road (the Glen road)

Diversion Routes:

Traffic travelling southbound will be diverted onto the LP 4030 Corduff road, then turn right onto the R179 Carrickmacross-Shercock Road.

Traffic travelling northbound will be diverted onto the R179 Carrickmacross-Shercock Road, then turn left onto the LP 4030 Corduff road.

All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Local Access and Emergency Vehiles will be catered for at all times).

Traffic travelling southbound will be diverted onto the LP 4030 Corduff road, then turn right onto the R179 Carrickmacross-Shercock Road.

Traffic travelling northbound will be diverted onto the R179 Carrickmacross-Shercock Road, then turn left onto the LP 4030 Corduff road.
