A Church Gate Collection for Zambia will take place on Sunday 19th Nov at St. John’s Church.  The funds will be brought to Zambia by Daithi Hegarty who is one of a number of students travelling there on a two week student volunteer project to help children in Zambia.

 

Annual Service of Remembrance for the families of parishioners who passed during the last twelve months will take place next Sunday 26th Nov at 5 pm in St. Joseph’s.

Corduff Raferagh Community Centre Schedule – Monday – Introduction to Computers Class at 10 am.  Sean Nós at 6pm, Set dancing at 8 pm.  Line dancing at 7 pm.  Tuesday – Ceili dancing classes at 8.15 pm.  Active Retirement Group meet fortnightly on Tuesdays at 10 am.  Wednesday – Bowls at 8 pm.  Thursday – Corduff Pipers at 8.30-10 pm.  Saturday Social Dancing to Curtis Magee.

 

Social Dancing to Curtis Magee takes place in the Community Centre on Saturday 25th November.  All welcome.

 

Introduction to Computers Class – An introduction to computers course will start in Corduff Raferagh Community Centre on Monday 20th November at 10 am.  This course is ideal for anyone wishing to learn basic computer and internet skills.  A CMETB tutor will deliver this 6 week course, cost €30.  Bring your laptop with you, if you have one, if not computers will be available. First Aid Responder – A CMETB tutor will deliver a PHECC First Aid Responder (FAR) Certificate course in the Community Centre in the coming weeks, this three day course will train individuals in the skills needed to deal with medical emergencies.  For more details contact Pauline on 087 297 7091.

 

Bazaar – The Annual Christmas Bazaar will take place on Friday 1st December in the Community Centre.  Proceeds will go towards the upkeep of St. Michael’s and St. John’s.  Your support will be very much appreciated.  Those collecting donations will be calling to homes in the area over the coming weeks. Keep this special community night free.

 

Carrickmacross Comholtas Concert will take place on Saturday 2nd December in Corduff Raferagh Community Centre.  This is an opportunity for all music, singing and dance class students to perform in public to showcase their progress from the weekly classes.  At the groups recent AGM it was decided to hold a general meeting for all members.  This will take place next Tuesday, 21st November in Carrickmacross Workhouse at 8pm.  This is an important meeting with at least one member from each family asked to attend if possible.  Topics covered include forthcoming class concert on 2nd December, music groups and youth sessions.

 

Santa Claus is coming to Corduff Raferagh Community Centre on Sunday 3rd December at 3pm.  A fabulous fun day for the family – Speak with Santa, have your photograph taken with the great man, receive a present and enjoy the disco, all for €8 per child.  All children must be registered by November 26th.  Check out the Corduff Raferagh Facebook page or the Corduff Raferagh website (corduffraferagh.ie) for the link to the registration form https://corduffraferagh.ie/santa-registration-form-2023/

 

Poker Classic took place in the Mountain Dew last weekend in aid of Carrick Cancer.  Thanks to Felix Brennan who organised the event which was an enjoyable night for the participants.

 

Coffee Morning, Cake Sale & Raffle – Thanks to everyone who attended last Sunday’s event for Carrick Cancer, despite the weather there was a wonderful turn out.  Special thanks to all who baked for the event, who donated prizes for the raffles and the staff who kept the pots of tea flowing.  Many thanks to the organiser Agnese Avotina for all her hard work over the past couple of weeks.

 

Thank you – Corduff Raferagh Community Association would like to thank Leona and Mary who delivered the recent Smart Phone and Genealogy Classes in the Centre which were both well received by the participants.  Leona returns next week to start the Introduction to Computers Class.  The Genealogy class enjoyed every minute of their 6 week class with Mary, they received wonderful advice and guidance and have now started their own family trees.  Thank you ladies for all your help, assistance and behind the scenes work over the past 6 weeks.

 

Extending Condolences from the Corduff Raferagh Community to the Marron family Carrickmacross on the passing of Fr. Patrick Marron during the week.  May he rest in peace.

 

Be Safe Be Seen – During sunny winter days pedestrians and cyclists may think they will be seen by motorists, but with the sun low in the sky it is quite difficult to see pedestrians and cyclists unless they are dressed brightly or using Hi-Viz gear.  No matter what time of the day, evening or night you are out Please, Please, Please wear bright clothing – Be Safe Be Seen.

 

Safety Reminder – In the interest of Safety, Corduff Raferagh Community Association would like to remind all patrons or users of the Community Centre carpark to drive slowly and carefully at all times. Please refrain from reversing down the hill as this is extremely dangerous. The same applies to any carpark, with electric vehicles, high vehicles, vans or any vehicle, carparks are a dangerous place for pedestrians.

 

Monaghan County Council – Road Alert / Temporary Closing of Road R178-5 Parnell St.  Carrickmacross from Thursday 2nd November to Thursday 30th November 2023 from 8:00am to 6:00pm, to facilitate Road Surfacing Improvement Works.  R178-5 Parnell Street from Main Street to the R178 Shercock Road.  Diversions will be in place
