Busy Centre Schedule – This has been a busy week and weekend in the Community Centre, along with the usual weekly activities the Bowls club annual tournament took place every night and also on Saturday afternoon.  On Friday the Pipe Band held their annual Table quiz fundraiser and as always it was well attended.  On Saturday night RU4 Reel entertained patrons in the Mountain Dew while Social Dancing to Pat Costello was in full swing in the main hall.   Thank you to all the Community Centre staff members who made each event possible.  Today Sunday, the Kids Halloween Fancy Dress Disco is on from from 4-7 pm.

Carrickmacross CCE – The branch will hold its AGM on Monday week, 28 October at 8pm in the Workhouse.  This is the most important meeting of the year for the branch and is open to any member of the public as well as branch members.  Any member who wishes to submit a nomination or motion is asked to send them by email to the secretary Finian Mc Cluskey at carrickmacross@comhaltas.net.

Monaghan Field Names Pilot project 2024 – The Clogher Historical Society will make their final presentation of the field-names project to Monaghan County Council in Doohamlet Community Centre on Tuesday 29th October at 7.30pm, this is open to anyone who would like to attend and see how the pilot scheme went across the county.  The final submissions from this area went in last week and we are extremely grateful to everyone who participated thus far.  Over the winter the Heritage Group will continue to mark-up maps with assistance from local landowners in preparation for next year’s phase of this project.  We have plenty more land owners to get in contact with, as the pilot scheme timeline was very short, we only got to meet and speak with a small number of people, but yet we have already collected some fantastic information.  As the saying goes – a lot done but more to do.  Watch this space.
