Where There’s a Will … There’s a … Relative – The Corduff Raferagh Drama Group are currently busy rehearsing for their first production in five years.  We are all looking forward to a great night’s entertainment on Saturday April 13th and Saturday 20th at 8pm.  The play is a fundraising event for the Community Centre, with proceeds going towards the current lift shaft construction at the building.  Although this project is 80% grant aided, our community needs to provide the short fall to ensure the project can be completed.  We will be very grateful for your support at this event.  Thanks to all who are taking part in the play.  Tickets are €20 and will be on sale in the coming week.

The Carrickmacross Cancer Society Annual Public Information Evening will take place on Friday 12th April @ 8p.m. in the Shirley Arms Hotel. Guest Speaker on the night is Morag Robertson (Nurse Manager) Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre

Refreshments following the meeting, very kindly sponsored by the Management of the Shirley Arms Hotel.   We look forward to seeing you on the night.

Tommy Feeney Memorial Match – It’s just a few weeks since the Amsterdam Legends and the Corduff Legends assembled in Corduff for a challenge match in memory of Brendan Finnegan, a Corduff native who moved to Amsterdam, and a young man gone too soon.  Yesterday, Corduff Ladies and Ardara Ladies assembled at Corduff Gaels GAA Pitch in Memory of Tommy Feeney, an Ardara native who moved to Corduff, and yet again a young man gone too soon.  Tommy, in his relatively short time in Corduff, made a lasting impression on those who knew him, and yesterday was a testament to the esteem in which he and his family, Niamh, Aoife, Maria and the Hanratty family are held.  Although a thoroughly enjoyable day from start to finish, there is a poignancy attached to these occasions, but also a sense of pride for the families to know their husband, father, son, brother, uncle, godfather, friend, neighbour, who is indeed sadly gone, but not forgotten.

The U12s Corduff Ladies also took to the pitch at half time yesterday adding to the occasion.

After the match the teams and assistants retired to the Community Centre for dinner, followed by music and presentations later in the Mountain Dew.  A wonderful community atmosphere prevailed in the building.

While the dance floor in the Mountain Dew was full of happy dancers last night, the main hall was also full of happy dancers for the monthly social dancing evening to Kenny Paul.  So a busy building to say the least.

Well done to all the Community Centre staff who were also on their toes yesterday, providing a wonderful service for all those present upstairs and downstairs.

Feile Patrick Byrne – It’s that time of year again as the Feile Patrick Byrne approaches.  From Thursday April 4th – Sunday April 7th a full programme of events will take place including workshops, concerts, céilí’s, sessiúns etc.  For full details see

Congratulations to Niamh Callan and Daniel Babington who got engaged during the week and to Laura Mills and Erik Westerman who got married recently.  Wishing both couples health and happiness for the future.

Thanks to Agnese Avotina for the beautiful Easter display in the Community Centre, featured in the photograph.  A multi talented lady.

Extending sincere sympathies from the Corduff Raferagh Community to Brian McCabe, Magheracloone and Rosaleen McDermott, Carrickmacross and the extended McCabe family on the passing of their sister Anna.  May she rest in peace.
