The parishioners of Corduff and Raferagh wish to extend deepest sympathies to our Parish Priest, Fr. Shane McCaughey and his extended family on the passing of their brother Cormac in Trillick, Co. Tyrone.  May Cormac rest in eternal peace.

Also extending sympathies to the Oliver family, Shanco, on the passing on Monday last of Valerie Oliver, a true lady.  Condolences to Alison, Roger, Kieth, Tim, Geraldine, Carol and Valerie’s grandchildren.  May Valerie rest in peace.

Brendan Finnegan Memorial Cup

As the weary troupers arrived back to Corduff after a memorable and enjoyable trip to Amsterdam, it is without doubt that the trip was tinged with an air of sadness.  As everyone knows, Brendan himself would have loved to have been there to meet and greet each and every one who travelled.  But as we all suspect, he was very much there in spirit.  The Brendan Finnegan Memorial Cup was presented to the victorious Gents and Ladies teams by Brendan’s son Milan.  Gone, but by no means forgotten Brendan.

Congratulations to Owen Joe & Eileen Carragher, Ardragh who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary last Friday.  On Tuesday last their friends in the Active Retirement had a little surprise for them when they arrived for the group’s fortnightly meeting.

Carrickmacross CCÉ

All roads lead to the Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Inniskeen this Saturday as the Máirtín O’Connor band, featuring Máirtín, Cathal Hayden and Seamie O’Dowd, perform.  Tickets are still available from the Patrick Kavanagh Centre or on the door.

Thanks to everyone who supported our annual pancake supper session in the community centre in Corduff on Friday 17th last.  Particular thanks to the musicians from Tullycorbet CCÉ who supported on the night.  All funds raised are being donated to Carrickmacross Cancer as in previous years.  The branch has been organising this pancake supper session since the mid 1970s and it was particularly good to see Seán and Kathleen McCabe there as they were the members who first organised it five decades ago.

More details on the Féile Patrick Byrne with the main festival running from Thursday 30th March to Palm Sunday 2nd April.  On Thursday 30th March there will be the formal opening and annual lecture.  On Friday 31st Belfast singer Gráinne Holland will be performing with her band in St. Finbarr’s Church.  Also that night there will be a Fíor Céilí with the Michael Duffy Band in the Corduff Community Centre from 9pm to midnight.  This céilí is being organised by the Corduff & Referagh Céilí Dancing Club and the branch is grateful for their support.  On Saturday there will be a concert with Pádraig Rynne, Tara Breen and Jim Murray while on Sunday 2nd April there will be a sets céilí with the Salamanca Céilí Band.
