Pickleball Come N Try Session

Thanks to Cillian from Monaghan Sports Partnership and Michael from Blackrock Pickleball club who came to the Community Centre on Monday morning last to demonstrate a sport that is one of the fastest growing new sports in the world.  The taster session was great fun, giving the 12 participants who turned up a great feel for the sport. This week is European Week of Sports 2024, so it was great to kick off a new activity for our Community Centre during this special week.  Pickleball is a cross between tennis and badminton, with its own unique paddles and soft ball.  Many retired or semi-retired people are taking up the sport for the social and exercise benefits.  You don’t have to be a sports person to play the game, many who play Pickleball are new to sport and enjoying their new found interest.  If you would like more details call Bernie on 087 9555762 or Pauline on 087 2977091.  Over the coming weeks we will bring you more details as equipment is purchased and set up for the Community Centre.
